The Minnehaha Church
Three Minutes
Wealth Begins With God. We have money because God blesses us with health adequate to earn, and the natural resources adequate to sustain our livelihoods. In turn, he asks us to demonstrate our trust in him by returning a portion to him and he has promised to continue providing and may provide even more.

Giving to Receive from God is Legitimate. Jacob of old was expecting God's ongoing blessing when he said, "This stone, which I have set up as a pillar, will be God's house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You." (Genesis 28:22) God blessed him richly following this decision. This was before the time of Moses' Law.

During the time when Moses' Law was in effect, a prophet wrote, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows." (Malachi 3:10)

The Rules Haven't Changed. Today, God blesses our giving. Sometimes it seems miraculous. When we give to God, the reduced amount left gives us more buying power than the 100% without God involved. Before we give, we may feel that we cannot afford it, but after we give and God blesses our resources, we realize that we cannot afford NOT to give.

We may Receive More or Spend Less. God may bless us by increased income, but there is even more blessing by enabling us to save the same amount. A dollar saved is worth more than a dollar earned because we pay taxes on the money earned, but the dollar saved is tax free. We are money ahead when God enables a saving for us and we can thank him that saving.

The Lord May Bless Us Beyond Our Dreams. Both increased income and diminished outgo may come from totally unexpected places when God is in it. This writer's wife and I had been praying for the financial success of a deserving young lady. We were looking for increased income for her. But a distant uncle left her the down payment for a home when he died. That was a major step to financial independence for the young lady. Who would have thought of that?

Now is the Time to Test God. It may be dangerous to question God in some matters, but he has invited his people to test his financial promises. ". . . test Me now in this . . ."   The next move is up to you. Give God what is right, not what is left.

Here is a Way to Give. The Lord has ordered his church to spread his message of salvation, to help those traveling that road and to help the needy. The Minnehaha Church of Christ is working on this. If you want to financially support these goals, mail your check to our locked and secure mail box at 3217 NE 45th Street, Vancouver, WA 98663. You should receive a tax receipt for the amount unless it is designated to some person, in which case, the receipt will show that the amount is not tax deductible.
